The sea of glass (Revelation 4:6)

And before the throne there was a sea of glass like unto crystal: and in the midst of the throne, and round about the throne, were four beasts full of eyes before and behind.

⚪ Godless conditions, all is transparent to God

Rev. 4:6 [...]
There was AS a sea of glass. —"The troubled surface which Daniel and Isaiah beheld (Dan. 7:2, 3; Isa. 57:20) became when seen before the Throne of God, calm and clear; reflecting as from a mirror, every fulfilment of the Divine purposes." (Cook.) (Rev. 21:18, 21; Ex. 24:10;) The sea (godless conditions about them) has been a means of purifying earth's future priests.—1 Ki. 7:23-26, 38, 39.
Like unto crystal. — Indicating that nothing escapes God's notice; all is transparent.

⚫ The purity of the Word of God

Rev. 4 [...]
Continuing the marvelous description it is written that a sea of glass as clear as crystal was before the throne. The laver of the tabernacle service was made of mirrors. In Solomon's temple the larger laver was called "a molten sea". (1 Ki. 7: 23) The things pertaining to God's typical people foreshadowed greater heavenly things. (Heb, 9: 1.9) "The sea was for the priests to wash in." (2 Chron, 4:6) "Every word of God is pure." (Prov, 30: 5) The glassy, crystal appearance of the sea before the throne -pictures the purity of the Word of God and how clear he, in his own due time, will make it appear to his faithful remnant of the priestly order.

⚫ The clean standing of all those in God’s presence

Next, John was presented with a stunning vision of Jehovah God himself. In part, this is what he saw: “A throne was in its position in heaven... The one seated is, in appearance, like a jasper stone and a precious redcolored stone, and round about the throne there is a rainbow like an emerald in appearance... Out of the throne there are proceeding lightnings and voices and thunders... And before the throne there is, as it were, a glassy sea like crystal.”—Revelation 4:2-6. Here is a vivid description of Jehovah’s resplendent beauty and incomparable magnificence. And notice the environment that surrounds Jehovah’s throne. The rainbow suggests serenity and peace. The lightnings, voices, and thunders emphasize God’s power. The glassy sea draws attention to the clean standing of all those in God’s presence. Although the imagery presented here is symbolic, it tells us much about God’s dwelling place. Jehovah maintains perfect order in heaven. His dwelling place is not in chaos.
