blood... even unto the horse bridles (Revelation 14:20)
And the winepress was trodden without the city, and blood came out of the winepress, even unto the horse bridles, by the space of a thousand and six hundred furlongs.
Revelation 14:20 - King James
⚪ True, deep teachings that strangle and drown old and false doctrinal hobbies
Rev. 14 [...]
And blood. — Teachings which though truthful will be death-dealing and seem "bloody" to sectarianism.
Came out of the winepress. — The exposition of the prophecies of Ezekiel and the Revelator.
Even unto the horse bridles. — So deep as to strangle and drown the old false doctrinal hobbies so long ridden.

⚫ The terrible slaughter (battle of that great day)
It is Christ and his mighty army of angels that will do the treading, or the squeezing, of the grapes. So enormous will be that battle that the flow of blood is described as reaching "even unto the horse bridles". Since in ancient times horses were used almost exclusively for war purposes, this indicates that the great treading of the wine-press is the "battle of that great day of God Almighty". The fact that the blood reaches to the bridle of the horse does not indicate that the horse would be overcome, but it indicates that the blood will run deep enough for a horse to swim therein. It is a symbolic way of describing the terrible slaughter that shall be wrought.
